3A. Develop asset inventory and gap analysis for PEI's tourism assets 

Tourism PEI has supported the activation of Bookvale Park's Nordic site for use during the Jack Frost Festival.

Tourism Cavendish Beach has engaged with Glasgow Hills Golf Course to support the establishment of an off-season trail system.  

The CCTP in working with the Town of North Rustico for the 2nd annual Festive Fridays/Holidays Lights campaign to promote Seawalk Park shops to open on weekends and to promote the use of the Eliyahu Wellness Centre to visitors as an asset.

CCTP has introduced Festive Weekends programming in collaboration with the Town of North Rustico. Building on the success of last year's Festive Fridays, this expanded initiative now includes Saturday an Sunday programming to cater to families and weekend travellers.

IETG is working with Brudenell Park to utilize their day-use building for events during Winterval.

Explore Summerside continues to drive focus to the Tourism Pillar of Trails through the promotion of Rotary Friendship Park Trail System.

 

3B. Develop culinary tourism

Fall Flavours will run from September 26 to October 12 2024, featuring 15 unique culinary events across PEI.

Tourism PEI's Manager of Tourism Activation participated in a culinary best practice mission in Southern Ontario in June 2025.

 

3C. Develop wellness tourism 

The 2025 Visitor's Guide has included a two-page spread on Wellness and a category for wellness packages has been created for Tourism PEI's website.

Winter trails at Glasgow Hills continue to be developed and enhanced as part of a collaborative effort between the golf course management and Tourism Cavendish Beach.

 

3D. Develop Indigenous tourism

Abegweit First Nation is hosting Exploring Epekwitk: A Journey Through Mi'kmaq Flavours as a Fall Flavours Festival Event on September 26, 2024. While Experience Lennox island is hosting "Megapaji" To Eat in Abundance on Lennox Island on September 28, 2024.

ITAC recently organized an Indigenous Tourism Best Practice Mission to New Zealand for Indigenous Tourism Associations, Indigenous communities, and Indigenous tourism operators from Atlantic Canada and Quebec. Conversations are ongoing to determine how some of the learnings can be developed for PEI and the Atlantic region.

Tourism PEI's Manager of Tourism Activation attended the 2024 Indigenous Tourism Summit.

Tourism PEI's Director of Operations and Industry Investment attended the International Indigenous Tourism Conference and the ITAC awards gala. ITAPEI was the recipient of the Provincial or Territorial Association of the Year Award.

ITAPEI participated in an Experiential Tourism Best Practice Workshop with coaching to assist with developing a concept(s).

ITAPEI is currently offering tourism training to Indigenous Tourism Operators and believes the offering has great potential.

 

3E. Identify underutilized and aging infrastructure to support tourism

Tourism PEI, in collaboration with Provincial sports organizations, created an inventory of sports event-hosting opportunities throughout PEI. This included a venue inventory analysis and identification of opportunities and gaps.

 

3F. Encourage the development of higher-yield products and experiences

Tourism PEI conducted research and data analysis to identify high-yield leisure visitor segments, high-yield markets and niche high-yield product drivers. View high-yield visitor segments.

Conversations are ongoing to determine how some of the learnings can be developed for PEI and the Atlantic region.  

Tourism PEI's Manager of Tourism Activation participated in a culinary best practice mission in Southern Ontario in June 2025. The mission was put on by TIANS and led by the Culinary Tourism Alliance.

Tourism PEI in partnership with TIAPEI and Destination Canada conducted an experiential tourism workshop with five RTAs/DMOs, Acadie PEI Provincial Tourism Association and Indigenous Tourism Association of PEI in December 2024 with follow-up coaching opportunities to follow.
