Winter brings a different pace to PEI; the perfect season to cozy up with a warm brunch at some of the best spots from tip to tip. Here is a guide to the top destinations for breakfast and brunch classics, Instagram-worthy culinary creations (think Lobster Eggs Benedict) and experiences to start your day right.

North Cape Coastal

Mill River Resort

This winter wonderland combines outdoor activities and great dining options. Before heading out for snowshoeing or sledding, fuel up at Callaghan’s Restaurant with their NOT SO BASIC BENNY: two medium poached eggs, Havarti & lobster on a toasted English muffin with hollandaise sauce and home fries. Sunday brunch often includes live music. Open at 7:00 AM

Starlite Diner

In Summerside, enjoy the classics while admiring the authentic 50s décor, memorabilia and jukebox music. Poodle skirts and bobby socks are optional. Breakfast served from 8:00 to 11 AM daily.

Central Coastal Drive

SeaShell Café

It is described as a destination for breakfast or a treat with great coffee, amazing cinnamon rolls and good vibes. The Cabot Park Karen - bakery croissant, egg, cheddar, tomato, cucumber and bacon - sounds irresistible. Open at 8 AM daily (closed Monday)

Lone Oak Brewing Co

Make Lone Oak your first or last stop in Borden-Carleton when visiting Prince Edward Island. The brunch menu offers mimosa flights and a rotating menu of eggs benny flavours. Weekends 11 AM to 1 PM, with brunch also at North River and Stratford locations starting at 10 AM.

Fin Folk Food

From Grand Tracadie, get your fill of stunning beachside views and Sunday brunch classics. 12 to 2 PM Sundays. 
 

Charlottetown

The Local

Brunch uptown for the Bruncho – PEI home fries topped with cheese blend, peppers, tomatoes and green onions. Con queso drizzle and a fried egg. No hassle parking too! Saturday & Sunday 10 AM to 2 PM
 

HopYard

This hidden gem offers a rotating menu, taps and vinyl. One of the chefs newest features is the Hopyard Hangover Brekkie. Pair one of eight unique pancakes options with a $6 Caesar and spin some blues for the cure. Saturdays from 10:30 AM to 1:00 PM
 

Chambers Restaurant

For an elegant brunch, visit Charlottetown’s historic gathering place. Built in 1931, the Rodd Charlottetown features luxurious characteristics and details synonymous with Canadian National Railway hotels. Brunch on Saturday from 7 to 11 AM and Sunday from 7 AM to 1 PM.

Abbioccco Modern Italian 

A fabulous-looking brunch menu with different Eggs Benedict options including lobster and a legendary cannolo stuffed French toast. Saturday & Sunday 10 AM to 2 PM.

Leonhard’s Café & Restaurant

This longstanding favorite consistently ranks among the top brunch spots in the capital city. Known for its traditional breakfast fare with a twist, the eggs benedict is a must-try. If your preference is sweet, choose the Apple Pie French Toast. Open daily at 9:00 AM

Slaymaker & Nichols Gastro House

Take time to savour weekend brunch at this charming historic house that radiates cozy. This foodie destination is the ideal place to linger over an upscale brunch while sipping a curated cocktail or an endless pour of strong, freshly brewed coffee. Sunday brunch from 9 AM to 3 PM and everyday brunchie menu.

Points East Coastal Drive

Country Taste Kitchen & Bakery

If your idea of breakfast is fresh pastry, start the car and get to Belfast! The cafe specializes in European pastries and PEI favourites like cinnamon rolls and muffins. When possible, chefs source local ingredients like fruit, carrots, cabbage and milk products. Thursday to Sunday 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM

The Red Claw Bistro

Head to Souris for the Breakfast Chaffle – think fully-stuffed omelette cooked in a waffle iron. Grab a window seat for a view of the Souris Lighthouse and ferry terminal before heading out for an afternoon of Nordic skiing. Weekends 8 AM to 12 PM; weekdays 9 AM.

Copper Bottom Brewing

Copper Bottom invites brunch lovers to "start your morning proper" with friends at weekend brunch. Every Saturday & Sunday 10 AM to 2 PM. 

Crafters Smokehouse at Bogside

In Montague, enjoy Eggs Benedict with your choice of brisket, pulled pork or vegetarian option. Sundays 11 AM to 2 PM.
