Makes about 6 cups (1.5 L)
This is an old classic, and super-simple. It always seems to come out around the holidays, but it's awesome in a chicken sandwich any day. Orange and cranberry go great together, and if you follow this recipe exactly, the cranberries won't overcook.
- 2 cups (500 ml) sugar
- 2 cups (500 ml) orange juice
- 4 cups (1 L) fresh or frozen cranberries
Dissolve the sugar in the orange juice and bring to a boil. Simmer, uncovered, for 10 minutes. Add the cranberries and simmer, covered, until the berries pop, about 5 minutes.
Remove from the heat and set aside. Allow to cool in the pot completely before lifting the lid. This will keep in the refrigerator in a tightly covered container for up to 7 days.
