About this Property
1930 Craftsman style historical home of John Burck who since 1973 became one of the 100 most influential residents of Montague. He and two others established the air cadet squadron of the town and was awarded the Red Cross lifesaving award for his keyrole in saving Canadian Armed Forces personnel who’s plane “The Argus” crashed in CFB Summerside in 1977. He was a captain with The Northumberland Ferries Ltd. that sails between Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island and retired after 27 years of service.
John went to sea as 17-year-old kid on-board deep-sea freighters and after six years returned home to Canada and joined the RCMP. The story of John Burck is interesting as he was truly an unheralded hero who was just an ordinary Canadian who loved his country and his family as well as he did what he could to help out his friends and those in need.
