10 Ways to 'Sit Around' on a Prince Edward Island Vacation

10 Ways to 'Sit Around' on Your Fall Vacation

Published September 16, 2024 | Tourism PEI

Ah, Prince Edward Island in fall—where the foliage is vibrant, the air is crisp and the food is freshly delicious. As Anne of Green Gables said, “I’m so glad I live in a world where there are Octobers,” and there’s no better place to embrace this delightful month. Here’s how to get the most out of your fall vacation while mastering the art of just 'sitting around'.

#1 Cycle: Opt for pedal power or e-power as you explore the relatively flat, picturesque Confederation Trail. Bring your own or connect with MacQueen's Bike Shop; Outer Limit Sports; Paul's Bike Shop or Rising Tide Electric Bicycles.

#2 Kayak: Enjoy the ultimate lounge chair as you paddle along a meandering river, soaking in the fall colors, birds and wildlife. Bring your own or connect with a local outfitter.

#3 Horseback Ride: Saddle up to admire the countryside views from a slightly elevated position and let your trusty compassion do the work. Contact Venture Stables or Brudenell Riding Stables.

#4 ATV: Embrace the thrill of adventure as you traverse over 450 kilometers of ATV trails across PEI, whether you're a seasoned rider or new to the sport.

#5 Savour the Season: Relish the rich flavors and vibrant settings of the PEI Fall Flavours Food & Drink Festival. Sit back and enjoy renowned seafood, including lobster, mussels and oysters, along with potatoes, of course, while listening to live local tunes and talents.

#6 Coastal Drive: Take a road less travelled to marvel at how the fall colors blend with emerald greens, coastal blues and rusty reds. Be sure to include scenic heritage roads and scenic lookouts to your itinerary.

#7 Beach: Sit on the sand to watch the sunset – remember to pack a picnic and a cozy blanket.

#8 Spa: Indulge in doing nothing with a luxurious spa day. Enjoy a therapeutic massage, a rejuvenating facial or unwind in a sauna or outdoor hot tub as the crisp fall envelops you.

#9 Live Performances: Sit back and enjoy a show from one of PEI’s small halls or performance venues. Let the talents of local artists and performers transport you to another place.

#10 Relax: There’s nothing more luxurious than curling up with a book by your favourite author or taking an afternoon nap. Settle into an outdoor hammock or a plush lounger and let the fall views and crisp air work their magic.
