Hey Salvadore!

Thanks for sending this question through Ask an Islander. There are lots of great options around Charlottetown where you’ll find the locals year-round up here. Let’s start with breakfast.

For one of the original breakfast spots in town, Maid Marian’s is a classic. No frills, very standard breakfast (think bacon and eggs, hash browns, etc) but done right and done quick. There’s usually a lineup 10-people deep any morning to get in, but you’ll be in and out within 30 minutes (unless you feel like staying longer). One of the best parts is hearing all the local banter - if you wanna know what’s going on in Charlottetown, you’ll hear it here. Don’t miss their milkshakes - one of the best in town!

Another one of my faves is Receiver’s breakfast on Victoria Row. This coffee company has a few locations but I find this one to be my favorite of the three. A bit more modern than Maid’s with things like eggs benny, Huevos Rancheros, etc. Great vibes and great coffee too as they’re a full scale coffee roaster as well.

On the weekends, I’d check out Brickhouse for their brunch options - super cool, cozy space with some great brunch options.

In the summer, the floating JC’s Tiki Bar at the Charlottetown Marina has a very simple brunch option and what’s better than eating brunch on a floating dock. Great margaritas here too!

For dinner - even more options but I’ll leave you with my top three below:

  • Sea Rocket - a newer spot in a beautiful space downtown on Victoria Row. You'll find a huge patio and a great menu featuring a ton of local product and a ton of oysters.
  • Sims Steakhouse is another almost-classic in Charlottetown. The chefs here use as much local beef, seafood and produce as possible. So many great steak options with fantastic sides and a great, cozy steakhouse atmosphere.
  • Slaymaker & Nichols - this cozy little spot is a great place for cocktails and sharing apps. Lots of cool options, a great outdoor patio in the season and they also have a beautiful rooms to rent upstairs if you’re looking.

Hope that helps! Have a fabulous vacation.
