When is the best time to go to PEI to eat lobster?

Good morning Lynn:
Thank you for your inquiry to Ask an Islander. The best time to come to eat lobster in PEI is around the time that it is freshly caught during spring, summer and early fall.
There are two lobster seasons on Prince Edward Island. The first, from early May until the end of June and again mid-August to mid-October. Our fishers catch enough lobster during our first season to last until our second season.
Each season, live lobster is stored in state-of-the-art salt water tanks. Storing lobster this way in cool sea water helps preserve the tender, delicious, fresh-from-the-ocean flavour that PEI Lobster is known for worldwide.
I invite you to download or order our 2023 visitor’s guide. You can always stay in touch by signing up for the Tourism PEI newsletter which includes details on upcoming festivals and events and recipes too!
We hope to see you soon!
Regards,
Verna Lynne
