We are going to Tea Hill Park and beach to do clam digging (in August 2024). Do you know any restaurant that I can bring the clam to cook afterward?

Good morning;

Thank you for reaching out to Ask an Islander. Your adventure in clam digging sounds like fun. For food safety reasons, you will have to cook your harvest on your own. Just so you know, you will need to soak the clams, all least overnight in salt water (fill your bucket while at the beach); a full day is best. During this time, the clams will spit most of their internal dirt and sand.

Some parks, like Bonshaw Hills Provincial Park, do have barbeques that you can use by buying your own charcoal.  After being soaked, you can cook clams directly on the grill. Once the shells open, they are ready to eat. Just use a pie plate to melt some butter and your meal is ready!

Alternatively, you can book an Authentic Island Experience that includes clam digging. Here are two options:

I Dig Therefore I Clam

Beachcombers Clam Boil

Giant Clam Dig with Beach Cook-Out

Enjoy your beach adventure!
