My ancestor John Stewart was said to have died in Orwell Bridge. I Cannot find a town by that name. Does it exist anymore?

Hi Linda,

Thank you for reaching out! I can't find a definite answer as to where Orwell Bridge was. PEI was divided into lots, and Lot 57 has Orwell Cove, Orwell River and Orwell, so I assume it was located there.

I found this interesting article on the settlement of Orwell, in it there is mention of Orwell Bridge a few times. I also found an old historic map of Lot 57 and I see a plot of land that belongs to a Mrs. Stewart on it!

Have you reached out to or visited the Orwell Corner Historic Village? They may know exactly where Orwell Bridge was. They are closed today and tomorrow (Labour Day holiday) but will be open on Tuesday.

I hope this helps!
