Do you think it will be okay if I l come to PEI in March or April? Will I be able to see things in colder weather?

Good morning from Prince Edward Island,

Thank you for contacting Ask an Islander about travel to PEI in March or April.

The short answer is that it really depends on the type of vacation you are seeking. There is a better chance of snow in early March if you are hoping to have an active outdooor vacation. Just know that March is a time when families from the region do travel to PEI for school break so be sure to book accommodations early in the new year for best options.

In April, spring flowers begin to bloom as the snow has melted and there is lots happening across the Island from live music, sporting events and theatre. At this time, the fishing harbours are active as everyone awaits the spring lobster season, which opened April 26, 2023. If travelling in April, I would wait until the end of the month when things are drier and temperatures begin to warm.

I took the image above in Springbrook, PEI on April 28th. It was a bright, warm day (probably about 10 degrees celcius) on the north shore. Many churches in the area had held Blessing of the Fishers services tp mark the opening of lobster season.

Have a great day!
