Do you need special permit for clam digging?

Hi Stephane,

Thank you for reaching out! You don't need a permit to dig clams on PEI but there are some regulations that you need to follow.

There is a limit to what you can take, no more than 100 clams, and the size can't be smaller than 2 inches. Please visit the Department of Fisheries and Oceans website for the 'what do I need to know before I harvest shellfish' page to familiarize yourself with the rules and regulations. It is your responsibility to check for closures in the area before you harvest as well.

I hope this helps! Happy digging!

Valerie
