Are campsites mostly available or do I need to reserve far in advance?

Good afternoon Michelle,

Thank you for contacting Ask an Islander.

The Island, as it is affectionately known, has so much to offer camping enthusiasts including eight provincial campgrounds and two national park campgrounds. Some campgrounds do fill up quickly with reservations made a year in advance, especially for long weekends and during major events. The good news is that you can check availability for many online, including the following:

For a full list of campgrounds, visit TourismPEI.com/where-to-stay and filter by campground in the drop down menu. A number of operators also offer trailer rentals, in case you are interested in that option.

I invite you to download or order our 2023 visitor’s guide. You can always stay in touch by signing up for the Tourism PEI newsletter which includes details on upcoming festivals and events and recipes too!

Have a wonderful summer vacation!

Verna Lynne
