Kevin Barbour
Kevin was born and grew up on a family farm in rural western PEI. He is a fifth generation Islander, who is pleased to call “The Island” home.
What does your average day look like?
I spend my working days in my dream job as a vacation planner and ambassador at the Borden Carleton Visitor Information Centre. It is an honor and privilege to serve guests from across Canada and the US as well as from around the world. Away from work, I love to walk the beautiful trails with Mocha, my chocolate lab.
What is your favorite thing about life on PEI?
My favorite thing about life on PEI is the picturesque coastal drives and the beauty that each season offers including the peace and tranquility of the daily life on the Island.
What is something people wouldn’t know if they are not from PEI?
Being a history major, I find people do not realize that Jacques Cartier, the explorer, discovered the Island in 1534. Also, it is not commonly known that Charlottetown is the Birthplace of Canada as host to the first conference to discuss confederation at Province House in 1864.
What are you passionate about personally. What types of things do you really enjoy? What can’t you stop talking about?
Prince Edward Island and the people are my passion. It is a wonderful experience to welcome guests like family and friends and to offer suggestions about the highlights of PEI.
If you were to choose one spot on the Island to take someone who has never been here before, where would it be and why?
With a site to see around every corner, my destination to take a first-time visitor to PEI would be Cap-Egmont. Here, you can view the charm of the red cliffs of the coastal shoreline and visit a labor of love known as the Bottle Houses.
