Bret MacCaull
Bret was born and raised on the Island, growing up in the beautiful countryside of Green Gables Shore, near Kensington. Although now a city dweller, he continues to enjoy living life at a slower pace - Island style!
What are your favourite things about life in PEI?
The best things about Prince Edward Island life - picturesque scenery, quiet rural life and safe communities.
What is something people wouldn't know if they're not from the Island?
It is not widely known that the Cape Bear Lighthouse was the first Canadian lighthouse to receive a distress signal from the Titanic. While a similar station at Cape Race received the signal, Newfoundland was not yet part of Canada. Ultimately, the sinking of the Titanic in April 1912 is an event linked to maritime history.
What are you passionate about personally? What do you really enjoy? What can’t you stop talking about?
I love visiting PEI's beaches as these landmarks provide scenic views, relaxing sensations and oceanic outlooks. Even in winter, Island beaches provide magnificent views.
If you had to choose one spot on the Island to take someone who has never been here, where would it be?
If I were to choose one spot on the Island to showcase, it would be the West Point Lighthouse - the tallest lighthouse in the province. Its black-and-white stripes are a stark contrast to the typical red-and-white towers. This landmark is brimming with folklore and ghost stories, giving it a unique and mysterious history.
