Amy Stewart
Amy Stewart is a life-long resident of eastern PEI and could not imagine living anywhere else. As an animal lover, she is passionate about her dogs, which she describes as "her world."
What does your average day look like?
My day always starts with coffee and dog snuggles. Then, I go off to work where I get to chat with lovely people and help them plan their day. If I am lucky, the day will end by grabbing the leash and heading to the beach for a bit of saltwater fun before supper!
What is your favorite thing about life on PEI?
I love the quiet and peace of PEI. You can go to a beach or walk a trail, only to hear nothing but the waves and birds. That kind of peacefulness can just make you feel better. Here, solitude is this close.
What is something people would not know if not from PEI?
The food is amazing and most of it comes right from our fields and waters. Also, the Island's rich red soil really does like to stain clothes.
What things do you really enjoy? What can’t you stop talking about?
Because of my dogs, I am always looking for dog-friendly places to visit and events to attend. I never pass up an opportunity to talk about animals. Really, what is a family vacation without your furry family member with you?
If you were to choose one spot on the Island to take someone who has never been here before, where would it be and why?
My one spot would be the Wood Islands Lighthouse as it was the childhood home of my father. My grandfather was the lighthouse keeper and raised his family here. It is a beautiful area to sit, have a picnic and watch the waves. You can stand above the red cliffs and watch the sunset or see the ferry come in. The folks from the area have always called it "the island" so you will often hear someone say we are going to take a drive up to "the island" to watch the sunset.
