Where is the best place near Cavendish to buy yarn? I’m particularly looking for a place that sells local yarns. Thank you!

Good morning Kim;

Thank you for reaching out to Ask an Islander. I'm new to fibre art having taken a crochet course last year as part of PEI Community School program. Near Cavendish, I would recommend two sources for yarn, as follows:

  • at /node/21575 in Mayfield, Margaret offers a nice selection of yarn including Icelandic Lamb's Wool from Blomidon Farm in Breadalbane as well as accessories and a series of workshops and Authentic PEI Experiences. In particular, Looms & Lambs may be of interest, and
  • at Trailside Yarn Shop in Kensington, you'll find yarn / wool by MacAuslands (PEI), Berraco, Ancient Arts, Briggs and Little and others.

For other possibilities, check out the PEI Fibre Trail. Also, Charlottetown plays host to the PEI Fibre Festival in October.

I invite you to download or order our 2024 visitor’s guide. You can always stay in touch by signing up for the Tourism PEI newsletter which includes details on upcoming festivals and events and recipes too!

Have a wonderful vacation!
